Charles City Comet baseball coach talks first couple days of practice; first game

When baseball came back on June 1st, Charles City Comet coach Tyler Downing says it came back at full throttle.

Downing says he was on and off on whether the season would even take place.

Now that the team has been on the diamond for almost a full work week, Downing says he hasn’t noticed any real change in temperament from his players. According to him, they have been coming in and working hard.

The team hasn’t been practicing on the new ball diamonds at the high school just yet – as finishing touches are being put on the facilities. Downing says the team has been out at Sportsman’s ball parks for practices but will upgrade to the new diamonds next week.

The first game for the Comets is going to be against the New Hampton Chickasaws at home on June 16th – with the varsity double header starting at 5 p.m.
