Kid’s Day 2020 to be ‘ride to remember’ on July 3rd in Charles City

Kid’s Day 2020 is shifting to a drive-through model for this year’s event. The traditional model includes a parade with games in Central Park each year – but both sponsors Soifer Family McDonald’s and First Citizens Bank wanted to make sure safety was their driving factor in the planning process.

The release reads:

“Vehicles will drive north along the Jackson Street side of Central Park, enjoying emergency response vehicles, a DJ, and bubbles before picking up goodie bags for kids under the age of 12. Kids do need to be present and remain in the vehicle to receive their goodie bags on Friday, July 3 from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM.

Families are encouraged to decorate their vehicles for a chance to win ‘Most Red, White, and Blue,’ ‘Best Use of Household Items,’ and ‘Judge’s Choice’ vehicle awards. Kids are welcomed to dress up like Little Lady Liberty and Mini Uncle Sam for a chance to win a best of summer McDonald’s prize basket. Each contest can be entered by sending a photo of entries in to the Soifer Family McDonald’s Facebook page or by posting them on Facebook with the hashtag #ccproud2020.”

The event staff is encouraging the decorated vehicles to drive by area nursing homes and wave ‘hello’ after picking up the goodie bags.

Again, Soifer Family McDonalds wants safety to be upheld at and during the event.
