After the weekend: Chickasaw and Floyd County virus update

After the weekend, Chickasaw County is at 15 confirmed cases of COVID-19. In just under a week (6/2 to 6/7), 5 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the county. The last confirmed case was announced on Sunday. 13 of the 15 cases are in the 18 to 40 age range. 502 locals have been tested and 3% of the tests come back positive; with the highest number of tests on a single day being 27 on May 29th where 1 case was confirmed.

Chickasaw County has been slowly catching up with Floyd County’s case load. After the weekend, Floyd County is still at 19 cases. The two cases out of Floyd County came on May 23rd; meaning the area has gone 2 full weeks without a single new case. 16 of the 19 cases have fully recovered from the virus.

In terms of deaths, Floyd County has 1 death. Comparably to surrounding counties like Chickasaw, Mitchell, and Franklin which has none.
