Charles City Chamber announces ‘July 4th Decorating Contest’

The 4th of July in Charles City has been uprooted by the pandemic. For many event planners, avoiding large crowds has become their central focus. The 4th of July parade in Charles City has been cancelled; the fireworks have been postponed. The Chamber of Commerce continues to attempt to create celebration events that hinge on proper safety precautions – this is why the ‘July 4th Decorating Contest’ is going to be sprinkled around the city.

This Chamber is encouraging people to dress their storefronts, windows, or yards with Independence Day spirit. This contest will run from June 19th through the July 5th, and there will be two separate categories – business and residential. The displays will be judged via Facebook and whomever gets the most likes will win. The winner in each category will be named the winner and awards will be announced on July 6th.

“More importantly, this is a chance for Charles City to show off its community and national pride,” the Chamber committee noted. “The greater the participation, the more our community benefits from the boost of color and national spirit for residents and visitors alike to enjoy.”

The cost is free to participate in the event.

To join the contest, one should take a photo of your display and email it along with the category, name, and address of contestant to:
