Charles City school’s ‘Orange Monster’ new calling-card for Comet baseball

The left outfield fence on the new Comet baseball complex is a bit enlarged – practically double the size of the other portions of the fence. For the Comets, this was intentional and is called the ‘Orange Monster’. It was inspired by Fenway Park’s ‘Green Monster’, a wall which is supposed to be infamous for swapping away home runs.

Athletic Director Todd Forsyth says it will be a lot of fun for Comets and opposing teams alike to attempt to scale the ‘Orange Monster’ with their hits.

Foysth says the field project itself was an accumulation of 10 years of planning and is excited that now every high school and middle school sporting event will be played on the one campus.
