‘Greene Volunteer Fire Department’s 4th of July Barbecue’ cancelled

4th of July events all around the country have been slashed off of city calendars. This continues as the annual ‘Greene Volunteer Fire Department’s 4th of July Barbecue’ is no longer going to be held. 

A release from the Greene Firefighters Association reads:

“After a lengthy discussion at our June meeting regarding the health and safety of our community members and ourselves – we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s annual 4th of July barbecue.”

The release also cited the ‘overwhelming’ and increased concerns over the COVID-19 virus. The team is very disappointed they are unable to hold the event for the city of Greene but with the information they have are unwilling to allow the event to happen.

The barbecue usually doubles as one of the fire stations biggest fundraisers of the year. For those still inclined to donate to the station so they can fund their training and equipment needs:
