Floyd County Public Health has announced the 2nd death in the county related to COVID-19. The individual was an elderly adult in the 81+ age bracket.
FCPH Director Gail Arjes says, “We wish to extend our sympathy to this individual’s family.”
Floyd County has 58 total confirmed cases of COVID-19 with 21 of them coming since Monday. Chickasaw County has 24 cases and 3 of those have come since the start of the work week.
On June 23rd Floyd County confirmed 8 cases of COVID-19 – this is the most cases confirmed in one day since testing began in the county. That is also more cases confirmed in one day than most surrounding counties. For instance, in Cerro Gordo County, with almost triple the population of Floyd County, at worst confirmed only 7 new cases in one day.
Also when extrapolating both Floyd and Cerro Gordo Counties to case per 100,000 population, Floyd Country is at 368 which more than doubles Cerro Gordo County’s 181 number.
In terms of recovery, 43% of Floyd County’s cases have fully recovered from the virus (25); and 63% of Chickasaw County residents are recovered and being circulated back into society.
