Charles City skate park to be taken down

The Charles City skate park is pretty beaten up and damaged. The plywood on many ramps is missing and splintered; bolts are bulging – and according to Mayor Dean Andrews, it’s got to go.
The Charles City Park and Recreation board still wants to provide local skaters with a place to go so are currently in talks to build a brand new skate park – this time with stronger materials so it can hold up to the passing of the seasons.
Andrews says a big question facing the possibility is: where would the city put a new skate park?
Andrews doesn’t know exactly when the skate park will be demolished, but is pretty sure it will happen before winter of this year.
