The Charles City Park and Recreation Board met recently with two large talking points on the agenda: the skate park and the Lion’s Field Pool. The board voted to dismantle the skate park and moved onto the pool discussion.
Mayor Dean Andrews says the current Lion’s Field Pool is built to fit the needs of people in 1995, rather than 2020.
With all of the pool’s lingering issues, the park board teased the idea of scrapping the pool repairs and creating a brand-new swimming pool.
Andrews says he has even been trying to coordinate the YMCA, the city, and Charles City schools to work together to create a multi-use pool that fits all of their needs.
Andrews says after he receives everybody’s ‘wish lists’ for a future pool, he will better understand if it is possible to collaborate on a multi-use pool.
