Charles City Whitewater Challenge that was set for September, now cancelled

The ‘wait and see’ strategy for event planners is coming to a head for many Fall events in the state. In Floyd County, August’s first 11 days has brought nearly 25% of the county’s confirmed cases. And according to Tourism Coordinator Ginger Williams, the Charles City Whitewater Challenge is off this coming September 19th.

Originally the challenge was scheduled for June – but was pivoted into the ‘wait and see’ strategy. Williams cancelled the event because she believed it to be irresponsible to invite paddlers and fans from all over the state and beyond to one location for an event.

“We thank you for your continued support of our whitewater park and community and look forward to seeing everyone at our 2021 event,” commented Williams.

Please direct any questions to Williams at and follow Charles City Whitewater on Facebook for additional updates.
