Floyd County Conservation starts ‘Gates Bridge Access’ project; river float Sunday

The pandemic has made many turn out-doors to socialize. Floyd County Conservation is taking full advantage of this – this Sunday at 1 p.m. is the ‘Shell Rock River Float’ (details on Floyd County Conservation’s Facebook page).

The Conservation team led by Heidi Reams is also keeping a kind-eye on Floyd County’s natural needs. One of these is at the ‘Gates Bridge Access’. According to Reams, they will be stabilizing the bank and improving the habitat for area animals.

Reams says the boat access area was in dire need of bank stabilization and that those who know the area will notice the changes.

This project will create nesting-room for the fish of the area and allow a safe-haven for these prey-fish to get away from the predators.
