Helen Marie (Tack) Brewer was born October 11, 1929 near Powersville, Iowa, the daughter of Glenn and Mildred (Vestal) Tack. She attended country school in the Powersville area. In her younger years, Helen helped many families by doing in-home care with babies and younger children. In later years, she was the caregiver for her parents.

On September 17, 1983, Helen married the love of her life, Reverend Oliver Brewer, at Riceville, Iowa. She enjoyed traveling with Oliver and spending time working on crafts. Helen was always making bread as she never bought a loaf of bread from the store. In fact, the week of her passing she was still making bread, and it smelled so good! Helen also enjoyed gardening and her flowers, but she especially enjoyed her cats and dogs through the years.

Helen attended Grace United Methodist Church in Floyd and was a member of the Heritage Club and Farm Bureau.

Her nieces and nephews were always very special to her and she looked forward to the times they could share their lives together. Helen was already thinking of Christmas and planning what gifts to give. Family and friends were very important to her.

Left to honor her memory are her brother, Glendale (Gladys) Tack of Salinas, California; nieces and nephews: Jan Tjaden of Floyd; Donna (Allen) Ricks of Grinnell; Gayle Hoy of Floyd; Larry (Deb) Tack of Salinas, California; Nancy (Rod) Truitt of Richmond Heights, Ohio; and Susan (Les) Robinson of Donnelly, Idaho; 12 great-nieces and nephews; 19 great-great nieces and nephews; and one great-great-great nephew.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Oliver; brother and sister-in-law, Galen and Fern Tack; and two nephews-in-law: Ron Tjaden and Randy Hoy.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
