Before the weekend: Floyd County with 15 new virus cases during work week; Chickasaw County adds 7 new cases

Long gone are the days where Floyd County was awaiting its first COVID-19 case – as over the last 4 days, the county has confirmed 15 new cases of the virus. This pushes the total to 170 in the area.

This week’s numbers also carried a noteworthy development, as Floyd County Public Health released information that confirmed the 3rd death related to the virus in the county. This person was in the 41-60 age range.

In silver-lining fashion, recovering numbers have sped up this week, with 32 of the 170 cases being released from public health monitoring. This means there are only 47 confirmed active cases left in the county.

In Chickasaw County, total virus numbers jumped 7 over the work week from 54 to 61. 53 of these 61 people have recovered – meaning 8 cases are active in the area.

And finally, Mitchell County had a bump of 3 new cases this work week and went from 78 to 81 cases. 68 of the 81 cases are fully recovered – leaving 13 active cases.
