Osage, Charles City, Riceville athletes win ‘All-State’ softball honors

Softball season was proclaimed a success by Gov. Kim Reynolds as a reported 97% of teams who played, finished their seasons. It was also a success for all of these girls on the announced ‘All-State’ honors list:

Class 1A – Third Team

Madison Mauer (Riceville)

Kayla Carroll (Rockford)

Class 2A – Third Team

Leah Grimm (Osage)

Class 4A – First Team

Lisabeth Fiser – Charles City

Class 4A – Third Team

Ashlyn Hoeft (Charles City)

Academic All-State

Melanie Bye (Osage)

When summarizing the baseball season in Iowa, 99% of teams finished the season. Reynolds says the season meant a lot to a lot of people, “Recently I was in Sioux Center and I had a young man who was a high school senior come up to me and he thanked me for letting him play baseball this summer. He said it really meant a lot to him, as a senior, and to his teammates to get to play this last season.”
