Floyd County Museum receives $25,000 from ‘Hart-Parr Oliver Foundation’ for a new roof; nearly $50,000 still yet to raise

For over a half a year now, the roof of the Floyd County Museum has been leaking. Newly appointed Museum Director Jennifer Thiele says ever since she took the job in 2020, it has been a constant problem.

Thiele says they need a complete roof replacement.

A completely new roof is not cheap by any means. It is going to cost the museum a little over $150,000 to build. This is why Thiele has been applying for tons of grants around the area – and she has already accepted many.

There is still just under $50,000 yet to be funded, which was a lot higher before the museum recently received a $25,000 check from the ‘Hart-Parr Oliver Foundation.’

Thiele promises to continue to apply for grants, but is still open to donations. She hopes the new roof will be fully funded by the end of the year.
