Charles City Community Revitalization receives grant to be used for more outdoor picnic tables

Where do you eat lunch in Charles City? At your desk? In your car? Chamber of Commerce Director Mark Wicks wants there to be more outdoor seating options in the area. This is why the Community Revitalization team applied for and received the AARP 2020 Community Challenge grant.

Wicks says the grant will fund two all-season round picnic tables that will be placed in the pedestrian walkway between Snap Fitness and First Citizens Bank, adjacent to North Main Street. One of those tables will even be handicap-accessible.

The project is made possible by Charles City’s designation of an AARP ‘Livable Community’. Wicks describes what that means:

The picnic table projects are expected to be completed by December 18, 2020.
