Charles City to partner with Crown Point Builders to help finish the ‘Parkside Housing Project’

For people wanting to move to Charles City, finding available housing could be an issue. An issue City Administrator Steve Diers has been working to troubleshoot for some time now. One of these attempts is by helping with the ‘Parkside Housing Project’.

These houses are a net-zero housing project – which means the houses are capable of creating as much energy as it uses.

Many more of these houses were tabbed to be put in before the ‘Down Payment Assistance Grant’ that the original team was using ran out. This has halted construction on the new homes.

The city is planning to buy the lot for $20,000 to help get the project moving again. The city will partner with Crown Point Builders out of Garner as they want to construct 20+ more units on the property.
