In breaking news, the Charles City school district announced on Tuesday that one of their students on the football team has tested positive for COVID-19.
Communications Director Justin DeVore says Floyd County Public Health keyed the school in on the positive case on Tuesday afternoon.
The release summarizes some of the important details from the case:
- Symptoms started within 48 hours of Friday night’s game
- The player was not at practice on Monday
- The player was not at school on Monday or Tuesday
Earlier this week, it was reported that a member of the Carrie Lane High School had tested positive for the virus. DeVore says this was an entirely different case.
DeVore explains that the school will be closing the locations the student has been in, and thoroughly cleaning it.
He also alludes that other students could be tested based on this positive case.
Charles City’s football game is still on for Friday versus Union La Porte City with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. – DeVore says he will alert the public if this changes.
