VIRUS UPDATE: Floyd, Chickasaw, Mitchell Counties; school metric

Today caps off a crazy week for high school football teams in North Iowa – as Charles City, Osage, and Mason City all had to cancel their football games and activities for at least one week.

In Charles City schools first full week back, 5 students tested positive for COVID-19. Four of them were from the Charles City High School (2 of them 9th graders, 2 of them 11th graders), and the final case was from Carrie Lane High School.

Osage announced via a letter that a couple of their high school students had tested positive for the virus:

“We have received notification that two Osage High School students have tested positive for COVID-19. We are cooperating with the local health departments to aid in the contact tracing, which has already started and is expected to be wrapped up by tomorrow. You will be contacted directly by the health department if you or your student is considered a close contact.”

On the county level:

Floyd County 227 total cases, 185 recovered, 3 dead

Chickasaw County: 115 cases, 83 recovered, 0 dead

Mitchell County: 125 cases, 78 recovered, 0 dead

For the new school metric (danger of closing zone: 15% and up):

Chickasaw County: 10%

Mitchell County: 10.5%
