Charles City to fix rough railroad crossings this week; expect temporary closures

Charles City, Iowa – An asphalt overlay project will temporarily fix the rough railroad crossings in town.

This week, crews will place asphalt over the unused tracks at the Canadian Pacific Railway crossings at North Grand and E Street to improve surface rideability.

E Street will be closed to traffic between 11th Ave. and 13th Ave. intermittently during the week.

During construction, North Grand Ave. will be open to one lane of traffic only.

The paving work is expected to be completed and the streets fully reopened to traffic by the end of the week.

Chris Berg

Chris was born in Webster City and raised in Charles City. As a young kid, he would always be caught singing along to songs on the radio. He says he's good at karaoke but we think otherwise. ;) In his free time, he enjoys beginning new projects at home and hardly ever finishing them. Chris lives in Charles City with his wife Vicki, daughter Brynlee and son Jaxon.
