Bridge Church and Chamber in Charles City to hold separate ‘drive-in’ movie events over next month; first one on Saturday

Nothing is like watching a movie on a 55-foot silver screen. The problem is, most of the area movie theatres – including the Charles Theatre – have all closed until new movies are released. To try to troubleshoot this void, both the Bridge Church in Charles City and the Chamber of Commerce will be holding their own ‘Drive-in Movie’ events.

These free events are being planned separately but have a similar premise and drive-in location. The first drive-in opportunity is this Saturday night at the Charles City High School parking lot and concessions will be available for purchase.

Drive-in opportunities presented by the Bridge Church:

  • September 26th: The Lego Movie at 6 p.m.
  • October 10th: The Princess Bride at 6 p.m.
  • October 24th: Despicable Me at 6 p.m.

All of the Bridge events will start at 6 p.m. for ‘music, dancing, concessions, and fun for everyone.’ And the movie will start when the sun goes down.

The incoming Chamber drive-in event is pending as the original movie titles fell through.

The upcoming double-feature event:

  • October 17th: One kids movie at 7 p.m. followed by one general feature at 9 p.m. (TBD)
