Charles City schools have confirmed 7 new COVID cases this week; 2 are high school staff memebers

The total cases of COVID-19 connected to the Charles City school district this week is 7 (as of September 24th) – with 2 staff members at the high school testing positive in the last week.

According to the district’s ‘COVID Dashboard’ the 7 cases this week look like this:

  • 5 cases at the high school
  • 2 at the middle school
  • 1 at ‘other’

The release from the school district assures the public that:

Upon receiving notification we temporarily closed off all areas of the building the individuals used to clean and disinfect the spaces. We are also cooperating with the Floyd County Department of Health and will take the steps necessary to protect the health of our school family.”

And any student that has been within 6 feet of someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 for 15 minutes or more will be called by the school and public health with instructions on how to proceed.

Again, the school pushes that:

“If you are not contacted – you are not impacted.”
