New Hampton’s Halloween plans: Parade cancelled, virtual costume contest, trick-or-treating

We are coming up on our 2nd major holiday during the pandemic – Halloween. And New Hampton’s Mayor Bobby Schwickerath decided to lay out the festivities a bit differently. The Halloween Parade the town normally holds on Main Street has been cancelled.

Instead of the parade, the Park and Rec department will be holding a ‘Virtual Costume Contest’.

Trick-or-treating is still a go in New Hampton. On Saturday October 31st, children in New Hampton can walk the streets from 2 to 5 p.m.

Schwickerath asks households to get an orange pumpkin from the Park and Rec department and put it out in front of your property to signal to the children that they can knock on your door on Halloween.
