Charles City school board talk ‘School to You’ program; how its going, possible expansion

‘School to You’ is an online learning program started by the Charles City school district that allows students to learn from home. According to Director David Voves, around 15% of the student body is using ‘School to You’ – or about 235 students.

Voves says a huge benefit of the program is its ability to teach students from anywhere in the country.

Special services are available for ‘School to You’ students such as daily food deliveries. Currently, 163 students are receiving daily meals from the school through their delivery service.

According to Voves ‘School to You’ is going to be sticking around and even expanding into the future:

  • New windows of enrollment
  • Chromebooks for students
  • Virtual meetings with teachers
  • Connecting students to work together

School Board Member Pat Rottinghaus says she hopes the program continues to expand.
