Some of the Floyd County preliminary absentee voting numbers are in! According to Floyd County Auditor Gloria Carr, 4,052 have requested ballots by mail or have already voted in the Auditor’s office.

There are 10,258 active voters in Floyd County, so that means over 40% of the ballots casted will be absentee.

A breakdown of the ballots:

  • 3,260 voters requested ballots by mail; 2,814 of those have been returned their ballots
  • 30 voters are military or overseas citizens who have requested a ballot; 25 have returned their ballots
  • 762 have voted in person in the auditor’s office

Carr says 4 years ago, 42.79% of our voters voted at the polls. Her estimate is that absentee numbers this year will exceed the polling place numbers from 2016.

With higher numbers, Carr is seeing absentee ballots with more mistakes:

Carr also says the deadline for voters to get their ballots corrected is coming up this weekend.
