Charles City High School drama department to record and broadcast postponed Fall performance

To combat any possible virus-related cancellations, the Charles City High School Drama Department decided this year to do an old-time radio show in front of a small audience and broadcasted live on 95.9 KCHA.

This way, the students and crowd could social distance. But after all 3 directors and more than 5 actors of the show tested positive for the virus, the October 30th and 31st shows were postponed with an open promise to reschedule them.

According to Director Michelle Grob, the cast still plans to put on the shows – but they will be a little different. Instead of doing 2-live shows with a small audience, the cast will be recording the show and uploading it online. This show will also be broadcasted on 95.9 KCHA between now and Christmas break. There will no longer be a bluegrass band performing – but high school choir group Rhymes with Orange is tabbed to accompany the show.

Grob says she planned for complications and this is exactly the reason she chose to do this format.

The radio show will bolster 25 actors who will be performing 5 short comedy plays written by Eric Coble.
