Broadband internet – something Charles City has been dreaming about for years now – is still on its way, but according to Mayor Dean Andrews the project’s funding has hit a snag. Fiber was set to be put in the ground in the Fall – but this timetable has now been pushed a couple of times.
The snag is putting a couple things on pause: the needed funding for the project, hiring a general manager for the project, and piecing together the marketing aspect of the project.
Andrews says that the Broadband Commission in Charles City is going to be meeting tomorrow night and they hope to start the process of answering some of these questions.
Originally, financing was supposed to be in place for the project this last summer.
