Out of tragedy, New Hampton’s ‘Little Light of Mine’ display continues to grow; fireworks, Santa this weekend

One of the most dazzling parts of the holiday season is being able to see the light displays that cities have to offer. And New Hampton’s ‘Little Light of Mine’ lighting display in Mikkelson Park truly encapsulates the spirit of the holidays.

Lisa Pool started ‘Little Light of Mine’ 4 years ago after tragic circumstances hit her family.

This light display didn’t start as grand as it is today. Pool says the first year she just wanted to light up the bench in Mikkelson Park that memorializes her son. From there, the community expanded it to incorporate the whole park and even the bandstand.

Pool says there is a ‘Little Light of Mine’ committee that was formed that meets once a month all year long to keep this spectacle on track.

They also plan mini-events for the display and this coming Saturday is a big one:

‘Little of Mine’ can be seen any night in Mikkelson Park from 5 to 10 p.m.
