Clear Lake Man Accused of Crimes in Floyd County Adds to Charges Against Him

A Clear Lake man accused of 10 burglary and theft-related charges in Floyd County now faces similar charges in Cerro Gordo County.

Law enforcement officials say 29-year-old Nicholas McCleland and an unidentified accomplice used a stolen truck to steal a construction trailer parked in the 2400 block of South Lakeview Drive in Clear Lake on February 24th.  When authorities later found the abandoned trailer at a different location, about $35,000 in construction tools were missing from the unit.

According to court documents, several of the stolen tools along with other stolen property were found March 5th in a storage unit belonging to McLeland. A criminal complaint for the Clear Lake theft was filed on April 1st and McLeland was arrested April 28.

In March, McLeland and 21-year-old Curtis Anderson of Waterloo were  charged for multiple burglaries and thefts between March 3 and March 5 in Floyd County. Investigators say items including a minivan and two cars were taken from different locations in Floyd and Rudd. McLeland and Anderson have pleaded not guilty and a trial date is pending.
