Building of New Charles City Wastewater Treatment Plant Back on Schedule

Building the new wastewater resource reclamation facility in Charles City is back on schedule thanks to dry weather this spring.

City Administrator Steve Diers informed the City Council this week that thanks to help from mother nature, Portzen Construction of Dubuque has been able to make up the time lost when the project was halted due to the DNR’s environmental impact.

Diers says with the $20 million project back on track, they’re hopeful the wastewater treatment plant will be completed next spring and the plant could be online serving residents by June of 2021.
