North Iowa Man Goes from Spinning His Wheels to Cooling His Heels

A 19-year-old has gone from the farm to felony charges following an incident last week east of Osage.

According to court documents, on May 15th, the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office received a complaint of a red car spinning circles in a farmyard in the 3700 block of Primrose Avenue. The reporting party then followed the vehicle until it came to a stop at the intersection of Noble Avenue and Highway 218.

Authorities learned the vehicle was being driven by Alec Woods, who initially said he had purchased the car, but later admitted stealing it from a hotel parking lot in Mason City. Wood now faces a felony charge of second-degree theft.
