New Hampton to Seek State Loan to Upgrade Water Treatment Plant

The City of New Hampton is looking at a state loan to help fund upgrades to their water treatment plant.

The Iowa DNR is requiring the upgrades be completed by 2032 and Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says they want to apply for a sewer revenue loan to help get the ball rolling.

Schwickerath adds the state loan would have a zero interest rate and could not exceed $1.37 million. Earlier this week, the New Hampton City Council set a public hearing on borrowing the state money for June 7th.
