State Track Recap: Two Titles for Charles City’s Collins, Osage Girls Finished Third

Charles City Junior Ian Collins is a 2-time state champion at the Iowa High School State Track and Field Championships in Des Moines this past weekend.

Friday, Collins claimed the boys Class 3A long jump crown with a leap of 23 feet and three-quarters inches. Thursday, Collins won the 3A high jump title clearing 6 feet 9 inches. His sister, Keely Collins, took second in the girls 3A high jump as a freshman. Charles City Senior Kiki Connell was the state runner-up in the girls 3A 3000 meters and also placed third in the 1500 meters and 4th in the 800 meters.

The Osage tandem of Ainsley Dodd, Claudia Aschenbrenner, Brooklyn Halbach and Paige Kisley are the state champs in the girls Class 2A shuttle hurdle relay. Kisley also took third in the 100 meter hurdles while the Green Devils’ Meredith Street was state runner-up in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes, and anchored the 800 meter sprint medley to a 4th place finish. Osage took third as a team.

Nashua-Plainfield’s Breanna Hackman took second in the 1A shot put and third in the discus. New Hampton’s Carlee Rochford placed 4th in the 2A long jump and 6th in the high jump. North Butler’s Kiya Johnson was third in the 400 meter hurdles and 5th in the 400 meter dash.  St. Ansgar’s 4×400 girls relay team of Hannah Clevenger, Natalie Bork, Taylor Hanna, and Cora Heeter was state runner-up n Class 1A while Riley Witt finished fourth in the boys 1A 800 and 3200 meters
