May 2020 saw 2,988 crashes in Iowa in which 167 individuals were injured because they were not wearing seatbelts.. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (Buckle Up

NHTSA), the seat belt compliance rate in Iowa is 95.2%. However, roughly 48% of fatal crashes in the state thus far in 2021 have been unbelted.
