City to Purchase Light Fixtures for New Charley Western Trail Bridge

The City of Charles City could spend almost $14,000  to add light fixtures to the new Charley Western Trail bridge.

The City Council has approved the purchase of five light posts from Crescent Electric Supply, not to exceed $13,835.  Mayor Dean Anderson says the City will recoup the money through fundraising by the trail committee, which doesn’t have the authority to make the lighting purchase itself.

City Engineer John Fallis says the lights, which were not included in the bridge’s original plan, will match the lighting along the rest of the trail. He adds that the entire the bridge should be completed and ready for public use by August.

The bridge construction project is estimated to cost about $1.4 million.
