North Iowa Teen Safe After Attempted Abduction

Officials in north Iowa are searching for a suspect in the attempted abduction of a teenage girl.

The Sumner Police Department says the girl was approached Tuesday morning in the parking lot of the Sumner Public Library and was asked to get into the vehicle of a man she didn’t know.  The teen avoided further danger by entering the library safe and unharmed.

The male suspect is described as having dark hair and was driving a blue-green extended cab pickup truck. Sumner Police posted a picture of the vehicle they say was involved in the attempted abduction on the department’s Facebook page.

Anyone with information on the suspect or the incident should call the Sumner Police Department at 563-578-3242, message them through Facebook or call 911.
