Sewer, Trail Projects Continue in Charles City

Projects to provide access over water and to improve water flow continue in Charles City.

City Administrator Steve Diers says crews are getting closer to adding lighting as part of the onstruction of the new Charley Western Trail bridge. He says the city has fronted the cost for pilasters and lighting fixtures, but costs will be offset through donations for lighting sponsorship.

Diers says two stormwater projects also continue, including in the area of Southwest Industrial Park.

Diers says the storm sewer replacement on South Grand Avenue will also help reduce water pooling in the area of The Comet Bowl during heavy rains. He adds that after dealing with some underground fiber cable and electrical wiring discovered during initial digging in the area, the project is moving along well.
