The Butler County Fair returns this in Allison and runs through Sunday.
The fair’s featured act is country music star, Clint Black, who performs Friday night. One of his songs, “Good Run of Bad Luck,” is the theme for this year’s fair, appropriate given last year’s festivities were halted by COVID-19. Fair Board Member Derek Prostine says while 2020 was disappointing, it did provide an opportunity for upgrades on the fairgrounds, as evidenced by a new building at the front gate.
Prostine says they’re still fundraising to help pay for the building. He adds he’s also happy to see the fairgrounds buzzing again with not just fairgoers, but vendors and exhibitors as well.
This year’s Fair Queen is Sommer Stotler, a recent graduate of Aplington-Parkersburg High school. Her activities included sports, music, National Honor Society, student government and the school mascot. Her college plans are to pursue a nursing degree. Her parents are Dusty and Bobbi Stotler.
