A Waverly man accused of sexually abusing a child in Floyd County has agreed to a plea deal in exchange for having some charges dropped.
43-year-old Michael Arenholz was arrested in November 2020 after he admitted to sexually touching a child and exposing himself to the victim while he was swimming. At the time, Arenholz was charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony; lascivious acts with a child, a Class C felony; and indecent exposure, a serious misdemeanor. Law enforcement says Arenholz first committed sexual abuse in 2019.
With the plea deal, Arenholz pleads guilty to one count of lascivious acts with a child, while charges of second-degree sex abuse and indecent exposure are dropped. His sentencing is set for August 16.
