For the second straight Saturday, the Cedar River in Charles City will be home to whitewater sports competition.
Coordinator Ginger Williams says the 9th Charles City Challenge features various kayaking and stand-up paddle boarding races starting at 10 a.m. at Charles City Whitewater.
Williams says registration starts at 9 a.m. and last-minute competitors are welcome to sign up on site. Those open to less intense competition are invited to join in the Hooligan River Run starting at 12:30 p.m.
Williams says Hooligan registration can be done at the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon or onsite until noon Saturday. Williams adds even if you don’t compete on the water, there are a variety of other activities on shore for kids and adults, or just come watch the action.
