Five Arrested in Fayette County on Various Violations

An Oelwein man faces a Class D felony charge after his arrest Wednesday night. At about 6:30 p.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 34-year-old Anthony Peter was found to have a suspended driver’s license and was charged for driving while suspended, a simple misdemeanor.  Upon further investigation, Peter was additionally charged with failure to comply with sex offender registry-second offense.

On Friday afternoon, June 25th, a jail visit led to the arrests of three people from Oelwein. The Fayette County Sheriff’s says 21-year-old Brandon Fox drove to the county jail to pick up an inmate who was being released. It was discovered Fox had a suspended Iowa driver’s license, but he fled the scene before a deputy arrived.  Deputies later located Fox’s vehicle being driven by 21-year-old Makayla Cox at the intersection of Hwy 150 and 190th Street. Further investigation found she had a barred driver’s license and a passenger in the vehicle, 32-year-old Kurtis Shasteen, was also wanted out of Fayette County for a probation violation. 

All three were arrested with Shasteen and Cox also charged for possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine).

On Thursday, June 24th shortly before 12:30 a.m., the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call of a domestic disturbance on Pearl Street in Westgate. After further investigation, 30-year-old Bryce Kugel of Westgate was arrested and charged with domestic abuse assault-impeding flow of air and with child endangerment, both aggravated misdemeanors.
