North Iowa Man Arrested on Drug, Theft Charges

A north Iowa man initially arrested on drug-related charges is also accused of stealing two motorcycles.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy noticed suspicious activity on 4th Street South in Maynard just before 2 a.m. Friday morning. An investigation found an abandoned motorcycle in the middle of the roadway and footprints leading into nearby shrubs and trees, where 23-year-old Dakota Fratzke of Strawberry Point was located. Fratzke was arrested for possession of a controlled substance – methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor; two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, plus interference with official acts, all simple misdemeanors.

Upon further investigation, it was determined Fratzke had stolen the motorcycle from a residence in Maynard as well as a second motorcycle from another residence earlier. Fratzke was then charged with two counts of theft in the second degree, Class D felonies, along with criminal trespass, a serious misdemeanor; and other traffic infractions.
