Ag Expert Reflects on Challenges for Floyd County Fair

While COVID-19 safety concerns kept the general public from the Floyd County Fair last year, 4-H and FFA students were still allowed to present their projects and livestock for judging.

Lesley Mehmen with ISU Extension’s Floyd County office says it was certainly a different experience, but not without its merits.

In addition to the “COVID curveball” last year, Mehmen says rebuilding from the destruction of the tornado that hit the fairgrounds two years ago also continues.

Work on the new community building will be halted during the fair, but Mehmen says they forward to the 4-H food stand moving in for next year’s fair.
