Health Officials Look to Get COVID Vaccines Out Before Expiration

When COVID vaccines were first rolled out in February, public health officials couldn’t keep up with the demand and many who wanted to be vaccinated had to wait their turn.

Five months later, Floyd County Public Health Administrator Gail Arjes says they have excess doses to dispense after a drop off in demand.

Arjes says if you haven’t gotten your COVID shot, getting vaccinated would be a good idea before joining the large gatherings of people at summer events like county fairs and community festivals.

Arjes says the public health office in Charles City has Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines available for those 18 and older, and the Pfizer vaccine for those 12 and older is available at Hy-Vee in Charles City.
