Manhole Rehab Almost Complete in Charles City

Navigating around orange cones and Hydro Klean trucks on Main Street in Charles City is coming to end.

City Street Department Superintendent Dick Uetz says crews will wrap up the “monoforming rehab” of 11 manholes this week.

Uetz says the City tries to do a few manhole rehabs every year and, this year, it was time for those on Main Street.

Uetz says rehabbing each manhole can cost between $4,000 and $5,000, but is about three quarters less than if they had to replace one entirely.  He adds rehabbing them now will make it easier for possible resurfacing or paving of Main Street down the road.
