The pilot escaped with minor injuries when his helicopter went down in northeast Iowa Wednesday morning.
The Allamakee County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash that occurred at about 8 a.m. near Waukon. 66-year-old Kurt Lepping of Wasilla, Alaska, was flying the helicopter low over a cornfield to apply agriculture chemicals when the chopper hit a power line and went down in the field.
Lepping was transported by ambulance to Waukon Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released.
The crash remains under investigation, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FFA) and National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) were notified.
