The Charles City School District will receive over $3.1 million in COVID relief from the State of Iowa.
The funds are provided through the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) program with the money spread out over a 3-year period. At this week’s school board meeting, District Finance Director Evan Marten gave a breakdown on the allotment of funds.
Marten says facility improvements will get $500,000, which should enable some projects to be completed ahead of schedule. The district will also utilize about $627,000 of the ESSER III funds towards learning loss or recoupment caused by the pandemic.
