Nashua Animal Shelter Recovering from Flash Flooding

A Nashua animal shelter is recovering from damages caused by torrential rains last Sunday night.

In about a five-hour period overnight August 8th to August 9th, as much as 10 inches of rain inundated southwest Chickasaw County. C and W Rustic Hollow Shelter Director Keisha Stough says three of their five animal sanctuary buildings just north of town took on water, something the cats weren’t too fond of.

Stough says water that reached into the buildings was ankle deep, leading to removal of linoleum floors in two buildings. She adds the cleanup will continue for awhile and they could use donations of cleaning supplies to aid recovery. They’ll also accept items that will help them be ready for the future.

Stough says preliminary estimates for damages are about $20,000.
