New Hampton Could Hire Charles City Attorney at Tonight’s Council Meeting

The City of New Hampton could hire a Charles City-based attorney as their new city attorney at tonight’s (08.16) regular City Council meeting.

The agenda includes possible action on the recommendation by Mayor Bobby Schwickerath that the city hire Todd Prichard of the Prichard Law Firm to replace the outgoing Kevin Kennedy, who submitted his resignation in early July. Kennedy has served in the position since 1986 and while his resignation is effective December 31st, he has said he would step down sooner if his replacement is ready to assume the duties before that date.

The council will also consider bids for sewer line cleaning. Four companies submitted bids for the project ranging from about $170,000 to almost $243,000.

The New Hampton City Council meeting starts at 7 p.m. at City Hall.
