New north Iowa road construction projects starting this week will affect travel in Fayette and Bremer counties.
The Iowa DOT in New Hampton says a bridge deck overlay project on Iowa Highway 3 over Otter Creek, about 2.5 miles west of the west junction with Iowa Highway 150, northeast of Oelwein, begins today (Aug.16). The project will require lane closures until mid-October and traffic in the work zone will be maintained with temporary traffic signals. During phase one, lanes will be restricted to a 12-foot-6-inch width. Phase two will restrict lane width to 11 feet until work is completed.
The Iowa DOT says bridge approach resurfacing in Bremer County started late Sunday night. The project calls for work over a small stream along the U.S Highway 63 bypass at Denver. Traffic will be maintained with lane closures. No time frame was provided for project completion.
The DOT says additional road projects also started Sunday night will affect travel in Black Hawk County. Project areas could include ramp and lane closures as well as detours for sections of U.S. Highway 218/Iowa Highway 27/Iowa Highway 58 in Cedar Falls.
